Property development company WordPress website

Project Overview

We had worked with London property developers, Bridehall, for some time through our colleagues, Hughes Design. Their original website had been built on a Windows CMS called Sitefinity. This carried costs in terms of licence fees and recurring support costs to allow for software updates. Given that there are more cost-effective methods for creating website on open source with no software cost, we looked at recreating the website with an updated design and layout using WordPress.

Updated layout and design

We worked within a Bootstrap theme using supplied designs. The benefit of using Bootstrap is that the code is mobile-ready, and while we spent time on the front-end look and feel, the layout for mobile was relatively painless. We were also able to remove older Flash components and utilise JavasScript sliders which work better across platforms ie between desktop and mobile devices.

Form generated custom content

One aspect of the website which was import was to be able to add portfolio items showing the location, cost and details of property developments across the UK. We developed a method for adding locations via x/y co-ordinates with colour-coded pins. The forms we created behind the scenes allowed for entry of data and the upload of images to accompany the portfolio items. While this is an extra on top of WordPress, using Advanced Custom Fields is a means of extending WordPress functionality beyond simple text and image updates meaning we can include further data fields to be included in the pages. As a result this site has details of over 60 property developments and numerous news items categorised as WordPress posts.
