Joomla WordPress migration for financial software company

We were approached by financial reporting software company, Amosca, to handle the transition of their website from Joomla to WordPress. We also needed to make content fit within the new theme they were using. Beginning with the import of the website, we used WordPress Tools to load all the content from Joomla. The structure between Joomla and WordPress differs so we also had to differentiate between page and post content.

Having established page content and post categories we were able to apply the theme and tune it to work responsively with the content.  We also created graphics for slides and on a sister website provided a secure login area for clients to download updates and documentation.

Joomla website upgrade and template updates for wheel repair centre

London-based alloy wheel repair and refurbishment company, First Aid Wheels, asked us to upgrade two of their websites’ templates to work with mobile devices, and from earlier versions of Joomla. We provided the know-how to smoothly upgrade the sites on a development server then added new templates via YooThemes.

Template customisations

There were a number of customisations made to the layout so that mobile users, who are a key audience for the websites could easily access contact information for their alloy wheel refurbishment and exchange business. We also needed to update the existing quote system via nBill.

Webhosting and website maintenance

We continue to provide support and maintenance for the First Aid Wheels website and have added social networking links joining together their Twitter and Facebook pages, helping to grow their audience. The site also benefits from being hosted with Rochen, a recommended Joomla webhosting service. The webhosting has brought significant pagespeed improvements, which of course helps with SEO.

Other projects

Besides the main website updates. later on we created a standalone application to provide tyre-sizing information to website users. The application was incorporated into a landing page designed to help with SEO.

WordPress website theme update for a data management firm

This is the second stage of work done for London-based data management firm, Infordata Consulting alongside Hughes Design. We initially worked on moving their website from Joomla to WordPress to help with them managing their SEO back in May 2013. This time round we looked at the messaging and how users understood their services, while also updating the look and feel to be more consistent.

The initial brief was to add some movement to the site, which we achieved with the Layer Slider plugin. This allows for independent movement between layers, so an image could be overlaid with live text, very useful for being indexed by search engines.

We also discussed the language used and the text was updated by Infordata after some discussions.

We expanded the footer, included more social links and listing recent articles from the site blog to provide a greater depth of content.

Overall the site has a more consistent look and feel and more appeal to the non-technical user.

Joomla website development for online newspaper

We spent over a year developing a new website for the English Language Gazette, a long-established newspaper for “English language and international education”. Using Joomla we helped move a static site into the world of content-management providing the means for reporters and editors to post news, reviews and interviews from latest editions of the newspaper online. In addition the site links through to a complete digital edition of the newspaper and provides current job listings.

Joomla website development for Willow Management

Willow manages around 100 short actors who appear onstage, TV and films such as the Harry Potter series, Star Wars and most recently with Ricky Gervais in the forthcoming series “Life’s Too Short”.

Sometime ago we met with actor Warwick Davis and his team to discuss how we could update their management website. They wanted the site to be easily accessible for casting directors who wanted to find actors for their projects. Additionally it needed to be updatable.

With a combination of Joomla for content management and a lot of bespoke PHP coding we pulled Mike’s design into shape, making actors easily searchable and results easily printable. It’s also possible to email a page reference so colleagues can view the same profiles.

One day we may even turn this into an iPhone app.
