Website Development

Our website development service extends beyond simply making a website, but actually begins with asking what is it you actually need? We are often asked if we can make a website using a certain piece of software for which we could provide a quote, but more often than not the solution doesn’t quite match the requirement. So meeting to discuss your needs is an essential part of the process. And once we’ve done that we can come back to you with some options and an idea of price and timescales.

It’s quite possible that we can solve your website requirements using one or more of the open-source software packages we use – like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and Cubecart and/or development tools such as Flash / Dreamweaver / PHP and MySQL. And yes, some of them do only take 5 minutes to set up – but that’s 5 minutes to create the file that connects your website to the database that stores all your content. Questions we still need to answer will revolve around answering the brief, design, usability, accessibility, getting your message across, ease of updating the site, readiness of content and much more.

If you want to know how long it takes to make a website, well, we’ve made websites in 2 days and we’ve completed websites after 6 months of going back and forward, but a general rule of thumb is around 6 to 8 weeks for a complete project. Having a design, content and in many cases, all your banking arrangements, company registrations and legal wording in place, may well hasten the process.

Website Design

This is essential in the process of building a website and cannot be written off as an unnecessary cost. If the average time spent on the site is less than a few seconds then what the user sees in that time must grab them and make them want to stay and see more. We understand this which is why we put such an onus on creating compelling design to complement your content and messages. Nobody will remember how good the connection to the database was or how well the search function performed if they don’t like what they see when they initially land on the page. Luckily we employ top class website design services.

Website Hosting

While it’s a relative doddle to host a website, finding webhosts that provide first class UK-based service which answer all our requirements is more difficult. We use several webhosts who all provide ample bandwidth, security, backups as standard and 24 hour one-to-one support. This is the kind of service we’d expect as standard, and so it’s the least we can do to provide the same to you.

SEO / Social Media / Copywriting

Our core offerings are website development, web design and website hosting but we can also help with branding, getting you listed on leading search engines (SEO), develop advertising campaigns (we have access to over 20 years advertising and marketing expertise), proof-reading and writing (from the English Lit graduates in our team) and many more skills such as video editing, sound recording and photography. It’s probably best to ask as we know hundreds of people who can help with the “other” details of getting your website up and running.
